3 issues comprise the majority of blockages in job hunting- 1. Bait and switch. The job they are actually hiring for is not getting interest, so they post something better, or with better pay, then wait till they think they have enough hook in you, to switch to what the job and pay actually are. 2. They weren't hiring. A lot of companies, confusingly, post fake jobs. It is supposed to serve as a motivator for staff, or more likely to keep staff scared of asking for raises cause they are replaceable. Not sure how it works, but it is a common practice that should be banned by job websites. If a company has a job sitting for a year, they should get booted from the site. And 3. the websites, themselves. You mention how it only took 15 minutes to get a rejection letter. That is because the employer never saw the application. 75% of applications are auto-rejected by the algorithm because the systems are deeply flawed. For instance, say you are applying for a store manager position. Your resume states you have worked as a general manager. Essentially the same difference, you qualify, it's just alternative terminology. The system will reject you for it. Because general manager wasn't part of the qualifications the employer inputted when creating the job position in the system. The employer will never even see that application.

If employers stopped treating new candidates like cattle, and trying to manipulate current staff, none of these issues would exist, and hiring wouldn't require 300+ applications to secure one interview and maybe the job. It's gross and wrongful. One can't even hold a part time or low wage job to at least keep a roof over their heads in the interim, because applying for jobs is a full time job, in itself, thanks to these skeezy measures. It shouldn't be legal, because of it. It hurts people, it hurts the economy during harder times, when there are a lot of folks desperate for work, like post pandemic. All those unemployed people were losing homes and not supporting the economy cause they had no income. It's not an issue lawmakers should brush off, yet they do.
