International Romani Day, on April 8th, was initiated in 1971 at the First World Romani Congress, to honor Romani victims of the Holocaust. This includes much of my own family, who were marched by nazis into the Salaspils Forest in Latvia, to dig their own graves before they were buried in it, along with 10’s of thousands of others in 3 different Latvian forests, in one of the largest massacres of the war.
